Camp Journal

Have been working to get the camp ready for the 2019 deer season and have neglected the start of documenting the history of the camp since its inception on 13 July of 2019. Camp is liveable and very, very comfortable. Lisa and I will be working this upcoming spring on installing the outhouse which is a priority. Once that is completed we will install the ceiling, walls, and floor. So far we are delighted with the camp and hope it gives joy and rest to all who stay here, present and especially future.

Arrived at camp ready for fun!! Lisa and I brought Braeden, Ziza, Laithan, and Colton for a day of slipping and slidding. The hill was awesome as long as the kids used the blow up tubes. They were flying!! We stayed out for around 6 hours and Lisa made a great lunch. Left in the pitch dark and the kids were exhausted. Good times.

Went to camp to bring some supplemental mineral blocks to help the deer make it through the winter. Looked out the bedroom window and observed 4 deer lying in the woodline waiting for me to leave so they could commence to munching.

Took Braedan and a couple of friends upta camp for a sleepover. Snowed about 12 inches overnight. Had the 4 wheeler with the plow and worked a couple of hours on the trail to get into camp. Left my pistol there so i have to go retrieve it tomorrow. Hope i can make it up the trail.

Checked on camp today. With all the corinavirus 19 bad news running rampant throughout the world it is nice to have a refuge, a place to go where i dont have to think about such things.

Hunted hard for the last 3 days to no avail. Flushed a deer Thanksgiving morning but only glimpsed it as it ducked into the small firs. Thats why its called hunting and not killing. As I get on in years killing is not at the top of my list. Just being able to somewhat manuever around the woods after my 2 leg operations and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the forest makes me so thankful for the choices I have made in my life. "I kill to have hunted not hunt to kill" God has truely blessed me. I'll try it again tomorrow and as long as I am able to enjoy HIS woods.
